District 833 Community Education’s “Gentle Saturday” event was a success, bringing together more than 200 people to unwind and get creative. Gentle Saturday is an event held twice a year through Community Education's Adult Enrichment program. It is designed to provide a relaxing and renewing day for creativity and learning.

Held at Cottage Grove Middle School, the à la carte day of lifelong learning gave participants the choice to select from morning and afternoon classes. A continental breakfast, an optional box lunch for participants, and fresh flowers on the tables, set the scene for community members to meet other like-minded individuals. Over 30 classes were held including, Printing with the Sun, Wet Into Wet Spring Flowers Watercolor, Classy Spring Buffet, Get Paid to Read!, Acupressure Face Lift, Become a Secret Shopper and more.

This year’s speaker for the event, Lori Schaefer, captured the spirit of the day as part of her list of '5 Principles for Transformative Change', “Get curious – become aware and open. Create a space to slow down, pause and be more mindful.” Schaefer shared the story of her 200+ pound weight loss success and how the concepts she learned can be applied to anything we face during a lunchtime presentation.

The next Saturday event to be held on October 13, 2018. Watch for details in Community Education's fall catalog due out in August.
