Pre-K (Age 4) Located in Elementary Buildings

Welcome to PreK

The year prior to kindergarten is an exciting time as your child’s abilities and independence develop by leaps and bounds! The District 833 PreK program will help your child prepare for Kindergarten as well as develop a passion for lifelong learning. Children ages 4-5 will learn fundamental academic and social skills. Students will participate daily in individual, small group and large group activities focused on math, language and literacy, music, art and science. Parents will have the opportunity to attend parent and child events and activities throughout the year.

A message from Superintendent, Dr. Keith Jacobus

Welcome to South Washington County Schools! We are proud of the strides we’ve made to provide three and four-year-olds the opportunity to access a high quality preschool experience. We have a program that serves as a model for districts across the state and have welcomed a number of state and local officials to see our work.
Increasing evidence that school-based early learning programs provide an experience that is more likely to contribute to long-term benefits for children led us to move forward with expanding the preschool experience in District 833. Research also affirms how critical it is for children to enter kindergarten with the cognitive, emotional and social skills to succeed. Although “kindergarten ready” may not have the same reputation as “college and career ready,” early learning is a foundation of long-term success for children.
Please review the information provided and consider the benefits for your child as they begin their experience in our PreK-12 programs. We look forward to your child beginning their educational journey with us.
